Todays event started off good enough. First of all, when I went to buy in, there was someone there who had just won a satellite and sold me $305 in tournament dollars for $300 so I was only in for $335 dollars as opposed to the standard $340. However, things quickly went sour. I do not know how many people there were or the prize pool because I think I set some sort of record for the quickest elimination in Deepstack history.
I knew that things would go bad when, first hand, I raised UTG without looking at my cards, everyone folded around, and I looked down and found AA. Gross way to start a tournament. I raised in EP with K9hh and got called in 3 spots. The flop came K53 and one of the callers lead out for 200 and I called. The turn came a 3 and he lead out for 200 more and I called. The river came a 2 and he bet 200 and I had to call here and he showed KT and I was down to 11k or so.
Then, the first disaster of a hand came up. I was in the BB with 2 limpers + the SB and found AJhh. I decided to check and the flop came Jd7d2s. The SB bet out 150 and I raised it to 525 and one of the limpers called. I figured him for a flush draw at this point. The turn came an A giving me top 2 pair. I bet out 750, he raised to 2750, and he only had like 7k total at this point so I put him all in and he instacalled and showed A2dd for 2 pair + fl draw. I was in good shape until the turn hit the 5d and I was knocked down to 3500 or so.
2 hands later, A guy raised to 150 in EP and I found 99 in MP and called. A guy behind me called and the BB raised to 600. I was the only caller and the flop came T43. The BB bet out 1025 and I called to see what he would do on the turn. The turn came another 3 and he bet out 2100, which was all of the chips I had left. I knew that I was beat here but for some reason, I decided to waste my chips and just call them off here like an IDIOT. Im so furious at myself for this play but I guess I have to live and learn from my mistakes. He had QQ and I couldn’t hit my miracle river and I was eliminated, exactly 24 minutes into the tournament. 24 minutes, 240 big blinds, and $335 later it was a bad bad tournament.
