Cash Game: Hard Rock Hotel April 5th 10:15 PM-1:45 AM

We arrived at the hard rock and I immediately loved the atmosphere there. The poker room was really nice and there are like 50 or so different types of $5 chips you can get, which I always love because then I am able to make a bunch of different small stacks sorting out the types of chips (it makes you look like a gigantic donkey when you do this as well).

Anyways, I got there and the first hand I looked at was 44 from the cutoff in an unplayed hand. I made it $10 and the button and the BB called. The flop came K33 and The BB checked, I bet $15, the button folded and the BB called. We checked down a turn/river of K5 and he showed 88 and I was down to $175. I then raised to $10 with AQo from MP and got 3 callers and check folded a flop of KJ3. After this hand, I was down to $165 and I reloaded $40 more on so I was in for $240. I raised one limper to $10 from the cutoff with Q8ss and the button reraised and I folded.

I raised one limper in MP with AJo to $12 and the limper called. The flop came KQ7 and he bet out $10 and I raised to $30 and he folded. I folded for a little while for image and then a guy made it $6 UTG +1 and I made it $22 from the button with AQo. It folded to him and he called and the flop came QT9 and he checked and I checked behind. The turn came a K and he bet out $20 and I called. The river came a blank and he checked and I checked behind and he showed J9 for the straight (I probably would have lost more here had I bet the flop). After this, I was down to $160 again and I reloaded for $40 more and I was in for $280 total.

The guy on my right was UTG and he made it $11 and I called behind with 55 and everyone else folded. The flop came 432 and he bet out $7 and I raised to $20 and he folded. I called a small raise with 66 but folded when I missed my set. There was a button straddle (yes, you can do this at the Hard Rock too) and a couple of limpers and I made it $16 from the cutoff with 99 and everyone folded. A guy UTG raised it to $7 and got one caller and I called with 66 from the hijack. The flop came 764 2 clubs and the raiser checked, the caller bet out $10, I raised to $35, and they both folded (I finally flopped a natural set in a raised pot with a small PP though!).

After this, I was back up to $240. There was a button straddle and one limper and I made it $21 to go with JJ from the SB. The limper called me and the flop came AQ7. I bet out $24 and he called. The turn came a 5 and I checked and he checked behind. The river came a K and I checked and he checked behind and he showed QT for a pretty weak beat. 2 hands later, there was a button straddle and 1 limper and I found JJ again in the cutoff this time. I made it $18 this time and the button and the BB called. The flop came KQ6 and the BB checked, I checked and the button checked. The turn came a 9 and the BB moved all in, I folded and the button folded (the BB showed 77 for a bad beat for me. . .the one time I don’t c-bet. . .).

A couple hands later, there were 2 limpers to me in MP and I made it $15 with J9o. I got called by the button and one of the limpers and the flop came KJ7. The first limper checked and I bet $15 and they both folded. I was hovering around $210 or so for a while after this hand. A guy UTG raised it to $5, the guy behind him called, and I found KK right behind that guy and made it $20. They both called and the flop came TT6. They checked to me and I bet $20 and they both folded. A little later, I found 77 in MP with no one in the pot yet and made it $10. I got called by the BB and the flop came A82. he checked to me and I bet out $12 and he called. We checked down a turn/river of 9K and he bet out on the river and I folded. Next hand I was in MP with one limper and found JTcc. I made it $12 and the limper and one of the blinds called. The flop came AxAc8c and it checked to me and I bet $15 and won the pot right there.

A couple hands later, I found 88 UTG and made it $10. I got called in 2 spots and the flop came KT2. I bet out $15 and got one caller. We checked down a turn/river of 29 and my 88 was good. After this hand, I was back up to $270 and almost even. I found QQ in the BB with a button straddle and a couple of limpers. I made it $22 and one of the limpers and the button called. The flop came 872 and I bet out $26, the limper folded, and the button miniraised to $52. I called and the turn came a 4. I checked and he bet $45 and I called. The river came a 9 and I checked and he checked behind and my QQ was good. After this, I was up to $380 or so. Next hand, there was a button straddle again and it folded to my SB and I found AQo and made it $21 again. The button called and the flop came 772. I bet out $22 and the button called. We checked a turn/river of 84 and my AQ was good and I was up to $420 or so.

I folded for a while after this hand. The button limped and I found KJhh in the BB and made it $10 and both the SB and the button called. The flop came Jx8h5h and I bet out $18. The button folded and the SB called. The 9h came on the turn and he checked and I bet out $36. He called and the river came 3x. He checked and I bet $70. He thought for a long time and I gave him my BEST reverse tells I could think of (I held my breath for like a minute and swallowed as hard as I could) but he ended up folding. A couple of hands later I found AJo from the cutoff with one limper and I made it $12. The limper called and the flop came J high. He checked, I c-bet and he folded. I was up to $470 or so after this hand.

I really didn’t pick up any good spots or anything for the last hour or so I was there. I raised in EP to $10 with 99 and got one caller and the button reraised to $30. I called and we checked down a board of AT58K with 4 clubs. He bet $35 on the river and I decided to fold my 9c after much thought. (Im like 95% certain he had QQ with the Qc because I heard him talking to the guy next to him). After this hand and all my folds, I was down to $420 or so and I cashed out at this amount, up $140 for the session.

3 triple digit winning sessions in a row. . .pretty good (although Im still down overall in cash for the trip. . even though its less than 1 buy-in now). Tomorrow night at 8 PM is the stratosphere freeroll so we will be playing in that. It’s a 5k freeroll that usually has 30-40 people in it so it should be good value. Hopefully I get lucky enough to make a good run. Other than that, I will probably play more at the hard rock tomorrow and the Venetian deepstacks start again on Tuesday.

  1. Haha, love the reverse tells. My fave is when you have the nuts and are OOP and check and tell them that if they bet there's no way you can call. Then when they do you repop your whole stack and watch them get pissed, pay you off, and go on mad tilt :)
