After I went and picked up Sean, we obviously wanted to play some poker. I hope to think that having him in town to talk poker with will help me greatly. We went to his favorite place to play, the Stratosphere, to play a few hours or so. Needless to say, it did not go as well as I hoped. I don’t even know how I lost all my money. I just kept looking down and having a lower and lower stack. I will say that I did not win ONE pot in the hour and a half of play there.
My stack got grinded down to $90 through a series of small pots. I limped with T9hh, flopped a Str draw called a flop bet, and folded to a turn bet when I missed. I called a couple of raises with smaller pairs and missed. I called a raise to $15 and 6 other callers with 97 suited and missed. The guy to my right was literally raising every pot towards the end of the session and he just started raising it blind and making large c-bets on the flop without even looking! I called a couple of his raises in position with hands like AT and JT and missed the flop and had to fold to his c-bets with multiple people in the pot behind me. I called a couple more of his raises with mid-hands (QT and KT) and had to fold to reraisers behind me. I just couldn’t get anything going right. I was down to $90 when the crushing blow came.
He put out $12 in the pot from the cutoff before the cards were even dealt (this apparently is legal, but its dead, he cant take the money back, and people can act any way they want to before him—absolutely bizarre). One person limped in EP and I called his raise with QTss. The blinds called and so did the EP limper. The flop came Q63 rainbow and it checked to him. He c-bet $40 and I knew I had whatever he had crushed so I went in for like $85 total, and the BB snap called my raise. He folded and the BB somehow showed up with KK there and I missed my 2 pair draw and lost my $200 without winning a single pot in the hour and a half. Again, I have no idea why I cant win at poker anymore. I will be playing the Venetian noon tournament tomorrow in preparation for the deep stack that starts on Thursday. GL to me for once.
