Tourney: Binions March 12th $125 6 PM nightly recap

I was incredibly impressed with this tournaments structure. With 10000 in starting chips and a bunch of extra levels, it is probably one of the best I have seen in Vegas. Additionally, the players in this tournament were just terrible. There wasnt one decent player at my table. We only started with 2 tables and, with alternates, 24 people. I wasnt able to get anything going early on and my stack fell to about 8k at the first break. At 100-200 w 25 ante, I doubled some awful lady player up for about 2k with my 55 vs qq.

I was struggling with about 5800 when I was able to double. At 200-400 w 25 ante I was in the bb and it folded to the sb. He min-raised and with stack sizes, antes, and how terrible he was I was not folding any 2 cards here. I looked down at 69o and the flop came KT7 all spades (I did not have a spade). The sb checked which was odd because he was playing pretty aggressively and c-betting a lot. The way he checked almost looked like he hit the flop extremely hard so I decided to check behind. The turn came an offsuit 8 making me a low straight and he bet 1100 and to be honest, I really didnt like my hand but the bet was just to small to fold so I called and waited to see what he did on the river. The turn paired the board with a T and this made me hate my hand even more. The sb lead out for 3500 of my 3750 left. I thought for about 5 minutes and while he might have kk, 99, kt, or a flush I figured that there was equally as much of a chance he was bluffing so I moved all in and he instantly folded for 250 more to double me to about 12k.

I was down to 11k when I made my first suckout of the trip. The blinds were 300-600 50 and I made it 1450 on the button with 44. The lady in the bb moved in for about 3500 and I thought for a while and decided to call. She showed AA and I ended up making runner runner 4 flush for the suckout in the gigantic pot.

I hit my peak at 15k but was not able to get anything going the right direction over the next 30-40 minutes. I dwindled down to about 6.5k after getting 3 bet preflop 4-5 straight times. I may have come complacent but we were short handed and I thought that they were pretty decent raising spots. The last hand came when I picked up a9 on the button with 2 limpers and I pushed my 6.5k and the bb came all over the top with QQ. I couldnt catch up and was eliminated in 12th place.
