For about the first 1 ½ hours, I really didnt play any big pots nor did I win very many pots. I was at my low point of $90 before I was able to take a few smaller pots and get to $115 or so. The whole table was playing incredibly weak-loose and as the night wore on, worse and worse players started coming to the table. I was able to get lucky in 2 bigger pots to get my stack back.
First hand, there were 6 limpers and I found As8x in the bb and made it $12 to go. This is probably a bad play but the plan was to iso to 1-2 players and then c-bet about 85% of flops to take advantage of their weak-loose play. The flop was an ugly one with kt2 with 2 spades and my plans were laid to waste as a limp-caller almost always has a king. I checked and the guys both checked behind. The turn came the J of spades putting 3 spades on the board and giving me the nut flush draw. I led out for $25 thinking that with no flop bets, I could force a lay down but got called in one spot. The river hit me with a 2 of spades giving me the nut flush. I knew that he didnt have a spade because of his “god dammit” when the river hit so I had to bet an amount he might call. I bet $25 and he thought for about a minute and called and said some stupid comment to me when I turned over the ace of spades.
The second had I had about $175 and there were 5 or so limpers to me on the button. I found t8hh and thought that with position and a suited connector, I could build a decent pot so I made it $10 and got called in 3 spots. The flop came t76 giving me top pair + gutshot str draw and it checked around to me. I bet $25 to see where I was at and ended up getting called by everyone. The turn came 3 and everyone checked to me and I bet $41. The 2 big stacks folded and one short stack called all in for $26. The river came a 9 making my straight. I do not know what he had but he acted pretty pissed when he mucked. I still may have had the best hand but I am not positive.
After this, I was up to $275 or so and sat around for the next 2 hours playing only one more big pot. As I said before, the table was awful and one guy in particular was drunk and spewing chips like crazy. He was sitting on my right and a nice enough guy and I was chatting with him occasionally. After he limped, I limped with QJo from the cutoff. The flop came t86 and the terrible player bet $5. I called and so did one other player. The turn came the beautiful 9 and after that card hits, the guy says “Yes, I just made my straight” and my eyes turned into $$ signs. He lead out for $25 on the turn and I preceded my flat call with a roundersesque “I really dont think you made the straight.” The other person folded and before he bet his $30 on the river he said “Fine, dont believe but its your money youre giving away.” I was able to keep my cool for about 30 seconds before I raised it $100 more. He started talking, saying “Do you have a higher straight, I know you dont have a straight, I know youre bluffing, I know that you have j7 and im beat, youre full of s***.” No matter what he said, I knew the whole time I was getting called. After this pot, I was at $450 and left shortly thereafter with $449, a net profit of $249.
