Before I get into this specific session, lets throw out some stats from my previous trips to Running Aces in the past 2 weeks (since online shutdown). I have gone 9 times, played 51 hours, and am up $1796 before rackback (they pay you $5/hour to play so that adds more money to my net total). The maximum bet on poker is Minnesota is $60 so the game I have been playing is $2-$60 spread (maximum bet and raise is $60 but anything between is playable). Now onto this session.
I bought in for $200 (max buy in). First hand I played I opened 88 to $10 in EP and got 2 callers including the button. The flop came 722 with 2 diamonds and I bet out $14. The button made it $30 and I called. The turn came a 10 and I checked, he bet $30 and I called. The river came a J and I checked and he checked behind and said "Youre good" and I was up to $270 like that.
Then came an interesting big pot. There were 3 limpers and I was in the cutoff and found Q8dd and made it $14. The BB and all the limpers called for 5 way action. The flop came AQQ 2 clubs, flopping me trips. Everyone checked to me and I bet out $40 and got 2 callers. Turn came an offsuit 10 and they checked to me and I bet $60 (the max) and the BB was the only caller The river came the dreaded A, making the final board AQQ10A and the BB lead out for $40. Normally I make a crying call here but I was so certain he had an Ace that I laid down my lower full house. He never showed and I guess he could have just had another queen but it seems doubtful he makes that play there. I think I just got pretty unlucky with that river card. I was down to $160 after this.
Very next hand I was able to get some back. There was a straddle and the guy UTG +1 made it $8. He got 1 caller and I looked down at QQ. I acted like I was steaming from the previous hand and I made it $40. The straddler flat called and he was the only caller. The flop came 1086 and I put him all in for his last $25 and he called. The board ran out 23 and he mucked when I showed QQ. I was back to $230 after this. A little later I was in the SB with AJhh and completed with several limpers. The flop came Q83 2 hearts and I lead out with $6 and everyone folded to my nut flush draw.
I was then able to get extremely lucky in a decently sized pot. There were 4 limpers and I found AdKx on the button and decided to not inflate the pot so I jsut limped behind. The SB made it $20 and everyone else folded. He only had about $110 total so I made it $80 (max raise) and he went all in for his $110. I called and the board ran out 6d4d2d10x3d and he showed AA which was no good when I made my the nut flush on the river. I was up to $340 after this.
I then played a series of small pots that saw me on the losing end of most of them. I called $6 on the button with KThh and several other callers but folded on the 965 2 club flop. I made it $8 to go with AQo UTG and got called by both the blinds. The flop came AJ2 and they checked to me, I bet $14 and took it down. I called $6 with other callers from the SB with A2cc but folded the JT7 flop. I raised 2 limpers from the button to $10 with JTo and got called by both the blinds and both the limpers and I folded to a bet on the 963 rainbow flow. I raised a straddle to $14 from UTG +1 with 88 adn got 3 callers including the staddle. The flop came K62 and I c bet $22 and got called from a MP caller. The turn came a 4 and i check folded to his $30 bet. I was down to $280 after this.
I folded for a long while after this but then played another series of small pots where I lost most of them again. I made it $8 in EP with TT and the BB was the only caller. We check-checked the KQ4 flop and he bet $8 on the 7 turn. I called and we checked down the 8 on the river and he showed K6 which was good. I limped with 33 behind several limpers and folded on the flop when I didnt hit my set. I raised to $10 with a9hh behind one limper and he was the only caller. He check folded when I bet $12 on the J75 flop. I made it $8 utg with AJo and got 5 callers. We checked down a 959610 board and I folded to a river bet. I made it $8 with 66 and got one caller and he check folded to my cbet on a A32 flop. I was down to $250 after these hands.
I then played an interesting hand. I had been playing very tight (all the previous small pots took place over the course of 1-2 hours so I hadnt moved my chips around for a while) because the table had alot more calling stations than many of the previous tables I had played at Running Aces. Basically, I was trying to wait for premuim hands so I could get paid by the "callers". This pot a looser player made it $8 in MP and everyone else called behind him. I found KQhh in the SB and thought that this would be a good time to make a play. My plan was to raise to get it to one or maybe two callers and then more than likely take it down with a c bet on many flops. I made it $30 and the original raiser as well as 2 of the other callers called. My mistake was that I didnt reraise enough to get it heads up when there was already so much in the pot. Anyways, once I got that many callers I knew the pot would be too bloated for me to make a move so I shut down and everyone checked down the 44235 board and one of the callers bet the river and we all folded. I think even if I would have tried something on the flop and/or turn I would have gotten called down by a pair because, like I said the pot was bloated and these guys were callers (if I am HU with one of them I think they always fold their pair becuase the pot isnt big enough). I was at $220 after this hand.
I raised with 96dd UTG to $8 and got 5 callers and c/folded the A83 flop. There were 7 limpers and I found AKo in the BB and made it $16 and got called in 2 spots. The flop came AT2 and I lead out fo $28 and they both folded. I limped behind 3 limpers from the button with 55 we checked to the turn on a Q646 board. i bet $8 on the turn and got one caller. The river came a 6 and we checked down and my 55 was good. I was at around $250 again and then disaster struck in back to back hands.
The first hand there were 2 limpers in EP and the guy in the hijack made it $12. I was in teh cutoff and found KK and made it $36. The guy in the SB all of the sudden made it $96! The EP limpers folded and the Hijack flatted the $96. I made it $156 and the guy in the SB called all in for a total of $135 and the hijack called the $156 so he and I were now in a side pot with about $135 from each of us in the main. The flop came J83 and he check called $60 from me and the turn came a 5 and he check called my all in of about $40 total. We showed down our hands and both the hijack and I had KK and the SB had JJ for a flopped top set. The river came an irrelevent A and the hijack and I chopped the side pot while the main pot went all to the SB. I was down to about $115 after this hand and reloaded for $100 more so I was in for a total of $300 at this point.
Very next hand there were 2 limpers to me in the hijack and I limped behind them with 55. We went to the flop 5 ways and the flop came 9c8c5x giving me a set. The guy in the SB lead out for $8 and the guy to my right (same guy with KK from the previous hand) flatted. I made it $30 to go and they both called. They were both cally, loose type players so I figured them for draws as this is an extremely draw heavy board. The turn came the 9 giving me the full house. they both checked to me and I bet out $50. The SB called and the other caller made it $110. I made it $170, the SB called all in for his last $30 or so ($80 total after the $50 he called) and the other guy put me all in for my last $15 or so. I called and he showed me the 98 for a higher full house. The SB actually had the JTcc for the straight flush draw so we all 3 had a pretty monster flop and it was just a horrible turn for me. Cant really do anything about this hand. I folded a ton more than I usually would and when I fill up on this board against these 2 players, I cant not stack off.
Overall on the day I played approximately 4 hours (shorter session becuase I busted) and I lost $300. My winnings for running aces still total $1496 but it always sucks to have a losing session. Hopefully next time I come out better.
