Cash Game: Running Aces May 14th 2011

I started playing at 1030 or so and ended up staying until about 230 so it was a 4 hour session. Overall, it was an extremely uneventful session but I got pretty lucky in one hand (kind of lucky) to end up a small winner for the day.

First hand I played I flatted a hijack raise to $6 from the cutoff with 99. The button and blinds both called and I folded on an AT2 flop. I made it $10 with KK from UTG +1 and got called it 2 spots. I c-bet $16 on the 653 flop and I won the pot. I found 55 in the BB with both the button and the SB limping and made it $8. They both called and my c-bet of $12 on a 994 flop was good enough to take it down. I limped on the button behind several limpers with 33. The flop came Q44 and one of the limpers bet $8 and I was the only caller. The turn came a 2, I folded to a $10 bet and he showed a Q.

I then decided to use my tight image to run a little bluff. A guy who seemed pretty active made it $8 in EP and I made it $22 with J8cc from the SB. He called and the flop came QdTd3x. I c-bet out $20 and he called. The turn came Ad and I bet out $34 and after much deliberation, he decided to fold. Im glad this play worked as I rarely bluff but my read on the guy was wrong. He was actually a tighter player so im glad he actually didnt have a better hand to call with. I was up to $240 after this.

I limped with QJ on the button behind 3 other limpers and it checked to me on the turn of a AA99 board. I bet $6 and took it down there. I then played an interesting hand where I ended up making a tight fold. There was one limper to me in the cutoff and I made it $8 with the QThh. Both the blinds and the limper called and the flop came 9h8x2h giving me 2 overs, a gutshot, and a flush draw. It checked to me and I decided to take my free card and just check behind. The turn came a Q giving me top pair to go with my draws. The blinds checked, the limper bet out $20, I called, and the guy in the BB decided to check raise all in for $49 more. The bettor folded and I was in a tight spot. I really dont think hes check raising all in here without a monster hand. I think he almost certainly has JT here. He most likely doesnt have a set because he leads out on the draw heavy turn with a flopped set. He could have had a hand like AQ-KQ in which case I made a terrible fold but I really think that I made the right play in folding because I think he had the straight. Additionally, I had no implied odds because he was already all in for his last $49. If he has another $100 behind I will more than likely be calling here. After this I was back down to $210.

A loose player on my right made it $6 from the cutoff and I decided to 3-bet from the button with Q9ss to $18. The flop came down QT4 2 clubs and he check called my $16 bet. The turn came an offsuit 7 and he check called my $26 bet. The river came the 5 of clubs putting 3 clubs on board and he checked and I just checked behind and my Q9 was good. Next hand I found AQo in the cutoff with one limper and made it $8. The SB and the limp called and the flop came a beautiful QQA. It checked to me and I decided to check as well. The turn came a 9 and the SB lead out for $14. The limp folded and I decided to just flat call. The river came another Q giving me quads. He checked and I bet $60, hoping that he had the A for the obvious full house chop but he instamucked. After this hand I was up to $280.

I made it $8 in EP with ATo and got 3 callers. The flop came Q93 and I folded to a bet. I found JJ in the cutoff and made it $12 after 2 limps and everyone folded. I raised to $10 from the cutoff after 2 limpers with the 74dd. The button and both of the limpers called and the flop came T94. We checked around to the K turn. It checked to the button and he bet $10 and it folded to me so I decided to call the $10 more to see what would happen on the river. The turn came the 8 and I check folded to a bet of $30. I made it $8 UTG with KJo and the BB made it $42 so I folded.

I then lost a pretty big pot when I made a couple of bad calls. I limped behind several limpers with A8dd and called $8 when the cutoff raised. We took the flop 4 handed and it came AcAx3c. The first preflop caller lead out for $8, I flat called, and the preflop raiser called. The turn came a 2c completing a potential flush draw. The guy lead out again for $12, I flat called again, and the preflop raiser made it $42. The bettor folded and I decided to call. The river came an offsuit 10 and I checked, he went all in for $37, and I ended up calling. He showed KTcc for the nut flush and I was no good. These werent good calls (obviously) but my rationalization was as follows: First of all, the player was overall a pretty spewy player. He played alot of hands and made several bad plays in the 30 minutes or so he was at the table so I thought that there was a chance he was bluffing. Secondly and most importantly, he was the preflop raiser behind several limpers. I did not think that, since there were 2 aces on the board, he would be raising behind limpers with a hand that contained 2 clubs (that wasnt the Ax of clubs and the A of clubs was on the board). I assumed his range was much bigger hands so when I called I kind of expected to see KK-JJ. I was wrong though and it cost me. I was down to $140 after this hand and I reloaded for $100 more so I was in for $300.

A couple of hands later I opened QJcc UTG and got callers on the button and in the BB. The flop came down AQJ 3 hearts and I bet $14 and the BB was the only caller. The turn came the 10h, putting a 4 flush and a 4 card straight on board. He lead out all in for $30 and I folded and he showed 8h6c (small flush). WP him. The loose guy to my right made it $6 in the hijack and I found AKo in the cutoff and made it $18. The SB (who was the guy from the A8 vs KT hand) decided to flat call and the hijack folded. The flop came down K62 rainbow and he checked, I bet out $20 and he folded. I was up to $240 after this (down $60).

I then played a pretty big pot where I got pretty lucky. I made it $8 from the hijack with 74cc and the button (guy from A8 vs KT hand) was the only caller. The flop came down K85 one club giving me a gutshot and I c-bet $12. He called and the turn came the 3c giving me a flush draw to go along with my gutshot. I fired another bullet with $20 and he instantly called. The river came the 2c, completing my well hidden flush. I bet out $50 and he called pretty quickly and I won a nice pot. I guess I kind of got lucky but I bet my way into it so it wasnt too bad.

I had to leave soon after this hand with a total of $326, up a measley $26. At least it breaks my 3 session losing streak though. Didnt play too bad so next time we will try to win more.
